• In 2000, Urban Expressions grew out of the four-year-old Scholastic A State Champion, Eighth Place WGI Southwest Regional, and WGI World Championship (1999, Dayton, Ohio) Participant guard from West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Deciding to accept students from any school that did not have a guard program and performers who did not have a guard "home" after high school necessitated our moving into the Independent class and resulted in us being the first Independent Guard in Utah
  • Urban Expressions IA has competed at the WGI World Championships in the years 2000 (Dayton, Ohio), 2001 (Milwaukee,Wisconsin), and 2004 (San Diego, California). They also participated as a member in the WGASC Circuit Championships in 2002, 2003, and 2005. They ahve also participated as a member of the Utah Winter Guard Association local circuit competitions and WGI Regionals since inception.
